Silver Lady started her trip to Penang

19th December 2008

Quiet a long time I am not using her to get to work. But today I need to send her to Suhaimi's father in law house before we shoot to penang this evening. I looks fine as I driving from Kg Baru until Jalan Tun Razak. But once I reach at KLP Highway I hit the gas paddle a bit more then I can hear sound or broken bearing from rear wheel.

Oh God! Can she arrive safetly at Penang. Or I need to replace the bearing first before Mie took her to Penang. Now time is the main constrains since I have only 1 hour during Friday prayer if I want to change it. I start think why suddently this sound came. I suspect it maybe cause by flash flood few weeks ago when the water get until 1 cm below exhaust pipe. Things come and flow in my mine as I am crusing on the KLP.

Then uphill task. I floored my paddle one more time. Silver Lady didn't give much response and I am quite surprise because the last time I using it to the office, she still have power to go uphill without chaging gear. Until the last moment it, then she show the sign of tiring. Thank you so much Silver Lady.

Halfcut Dah Sampai!

18 Disember

Halfcut sudey sampai. Mie talipon aku. Agak eksited jugak aku aritu. Tak sabar nak tgk halfcut tuhs. Mie kata dia mai ngan Mivec punya fender ngan hood. Tp halfcut tuhs x kereta eksiden blah kiri. Seb baik tak kacau engine.

So aku call Yaser bgtau kalau dia free p la tgk dulu. Tak sabar pulak rasanya. Padahal keesokkan harinya aku nak p Penang dah. Back to Back to Back to Back to Back punya wedding dok tgu aku. Tak tau la sempat ka dak nak tgk whole trasplant process.

Peh tu Mie plak offer nak bwk balik Silver Lady ke Penang. Ayat dia mcm nie "Nak suruh aku ambik pun boley. Minyak full ngan Touch n GO! Kereta antaq kat umah Pak mertua aku"

"Set!".

Halfcut Found!

Few days after surveying halfcut at Klang, I recieved phone call from Mie. His friends had found a nice 4G91 halfcut at Klang. He did ask me if I am agree so his friends can book that halfcut.

At that time I am quite worried because I really want Mie to search and choose 4G91 halfcut for this project. But after I been told by Mie the mileage for that engine is only 32000km, why not!

Price for that halfcut is RM4500 including transportation to JTech Workshop at Penang.

I make up my mind and said proceed.

What I need to is to transfer 4.5k to Mie account. But to make this story a bit long I can't make it the whole day. I dont know what really happen to Maybank2u services since I can't recived any TAC number. It makes me abit worried since I promise Mie to transfer the money by night.

The next day, early morning I tried one more time and by the fly I recieved TAC no. Yes! I can transfer money now! Fuh.. Lega..

4G91 Engine Spec

The first in the range of Mitsubishi 4G9x engines is the 4G91 which uses a 78.4mm bore and 77.5mm stroke for a total displacement of 1.5 litres. With a 9.5:1 compression ratio and DOHC, four-valve-per-cylinder head and multi-point EFI, this engine puts out a creditable 84kW at 6000 rpm and 135Nm at 5000 rpm on normal unleaded fuel. The engine can be found in the Japanese market ’91 top-line Lancer and Mirage/Mirage Asti. A low output carby version was also produced but it’s not likely you’re interested in that... Both engines are designed for transverse mounting and are available with a four-speed auto or five-speed manual ‘box. Most examples are front-wheel-drive but, curiously, an all-wheel-drive carby version was also produced. This engine lasted only until the mid ‘90s.

Research

To change this project into reality, some basic research had been done. First round is by reading few forum on the net. Two main contender to replace current 4g13 engine which is 4g92 Doch Mivec and 4g91doch injection.

The next step is to ask advise from expert (Mie JTech) which one should we choose as per overall score and budget. At this moment the main contender still can't be decide. Until we go to Klang to survey halfcut price. We find out Mivec halfcut is totaly insane. It almost 10k just for halfcut. At the end of the day, 4g91 doch is the perfect powerhouse and fit to the budget.

Then Mie have been appointed as mechanic to handle the first phase of this project even his workshop is located at Penang. Mie is actually my good friend at my hometown Telok Bahang. I put my trust on him to deploy this project since he had experience in conversion.

At this moment the Silver Lady project will begin!
